Colour Segmentation for the Analysis of Pigmented Skin Lesions
نویسنده
چکیده
| In this paper a colour segmentation scheme based on two-dimensional histogram analysis and the fuzzy c-means clustering technique is presented. The method is applied to digitised epiluminescence microscopy images of pigmented skin lesions and is used for the extraction of all homogeneously coloured regions. Methods to reduce the inuence of small structures, hairs, bubbles, light re exion, and other artefacts are proposed as pre and post-processing steps.

Analysis of skin lesions with pigmented networks
This paper deals with image processing for automatic analysis of pigmented skin lesions. A special emphasis is put on pigmented networks in epiluminescence microscopy (ELM) images. The purpose of processing images with pigmented skin lesions is the visualisation for education and training as well as for diagnosis support. We use a colour based segmentation applied to the Karhunen-Lo eve transfo...
متن کاملDepth Data Improves Skin Lesion Segmentation
This paper shows that adding 3D depth information to RGB colour images improves segmentation of pigmented and non-pigmented skin lesion. A region-based active contour segmentation approach using a statistical model based on the level-set framework is presented. We consider what kinds of properties (e.g., colour, depth, texture) are most discriminative. The experiments show that our proposed met...
متن کاملComputer image analysis of pigmented skin lesions.
To assist in the distinction of melanoma from benign pigmented lesions, an imaging system was developed, comprising a frame grabber, a microcomputer, a colour video camera and flash lighting with red, green and infrared filters. Over an 18-month period, video images of 70 unselected pigmented lesions for which complete diagnostic data were available, were successfully captured using the camera....
متن کاملEvaluation of the efficacy of the Q switched ruby laser in the treatment of benign pigmented skin lesions
Background and aim: It is possible to use light sources suxh as lasers to destruct melanosomes and treat pigmented skin lesions. One of the most commonly used laser systems is Q switched ruby laser with a wave-length of 694 nm. This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of the Q switched ruby laser in the treatment of pigmented skin lesions including lentigines (simplex or solar) and caf...
متن کاملA computational approach for detecting pigmented skin lesions in macroscopic images
Skin cancer is considered one of the most common types of cancer in several countries and its incidence rate has increased in recent years. Computational methods have been developed to assist dermatologists in early diagnosis of skin cancer. Computational analysis of skin lesion images has become a challenging research area due to the difficulty in discerning some types of skin lesions. A novel...
